Rubber flooring in health care settings

When looking to complete essential maintenance and construction work in a health care setting, several factors have to be taken into consideration.  The first important factor is availability of time; a hospital for example can not close down for large periods of time to have work carried out, so whichever materials are used need to be highly durable and long lasting as replacement would be likely to cause significant disruption to patient care.

Different areas of the hospital require different specifications for there flooring. Taking into consideration durability, cleaning, appearance, comfort and sound control, choices for floor coverings are made between linoleum, vinyl, carpet and rubber flooring.

In patient care areas, rubber flooring is the leading choice, becoming especially popular in the newborn intensive care units, due to its ease of cleaning and durability.  Rubber flooring is seen as the best available option for these patient care areas, but rubber flooring is also being used in public areas where sound control and low emissions of cleaning fluids are an important factor.

All in all rubber flooring is becoming a first choice for many areas of hospitals; its durability allows too retain an attractive and practical floor after years of use.  Rubber flooring also been so easy to clean makes it the perfect hygienic setting for a hospital.
